A new way to think, lead, and build as the ground shifts under government

Presented by Dustin Haisler and Nick Kittle
Hosted on the AFI Circle | 60 minutes | Free to join

The forces reshaping local government (workforce shortages, tighter budgets, rising expectations, and AI arriving faster than anyone planned) aren't slowing down. The leaders who do well in the next decade won't be the ones who manage these pressures the best. They'll be the ones who rebuild how their organizations work so the organization gets stronger as the world speeds up.

That takes more than better management. It takes a new toolset, a new way of framing the work, and a new approach to leading through constant change. This session gives you the start of all three, plus a grounded look at where things are actually headed.

Here's what you'll leave with:

  • A clearer view of what's coming. We start with the big picture: the forces acting on government over the next ten years, and a simple way to read them so you're making long-term decisions instead of reacting to this year's crisis.
  • A new way to frame the work. A shift from running the org chart to building an organization that compounds capability, plus how to keep innovation alive instead of watching it fade after the first win.
  • A new toolset for leverage. How the right mix of data, AI, and automation lets a lean team deliver far more, explained in plain terms with no technical background required.
  • A new approach to change. Why constant reinvention is now the normal condition, not a phase to survive, and how to lead your people through it without burning them out.

This is a conversation between practitioners, not a lecture. Every idea comes with a first move you could make next week. You'll walk away with a new lens on your organization and a few concrete steps to start using right away.

Who should attend: city and county managers, department heads, innovation officers, and anyone leading a public-sector team through real change.

Your presenters:
Dustin Haisler is Chief AI Officer at Darwin AI and a former city CIO who has spent his career tracking where government and technology are headed.

Nick Kittle is a former Chief Innovation Officer for Adams County, Colorado. He built one of the first innovation offices in the country, ran more than 65 pilots that saved $7.8M, and wrote the best-selling book Sustainovation.

This event is brought to you by the Alliance for Innovation and is open to ALL. Attendance via the Alliance Member Circle.
