Fundamentals of Foresight for Local Government Certification Course

The "Fundamentals of Foresight for Local Government" is a pioneering 9-week certificate program designed to introduce local government professionals to the transformative power of foresight. This comprehensive program is crafted for those seeking a deeper understanding of foresight methods and how they can be applied to anticipate, innovate, and plan for future challenges and opportunities within local governance. Through a blend of weekly pre-recorded lectures, engaging homework assignments, and interactive live sessions, participants will embark on a journey to explore the core aspects of foresight, including horizon scanning, scenario planning, and implications mapping.

What to Expect:

- Participants will have completed a foresight research project on the topic of their choice in nine weeks.

- Each week, participants will get access to on-demand video lectures and optional live strategy tool sessions.

- Participants will be given an independent assignment each week that asks them to apply the lessons learned.

- Participants can expect to spend approximately 1-2 hours per week in on-demand and live instruction, and 2-3 hours per week completing assignments and reviewing work of peers.

- Participants that complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion from AFI demonstrating their accomplishment.
