Dedicated fiber network strands were installed connecting the local governments of Catawba County, Newton, Conover, Maiden, Hickory, Claremont, and Long View.
Catawba County partners with Hickory, Conover, Newton, Maiden, Long View, Claremont, Mooresville, and Burke and Lincoln counties to extend water and sewer service to the County’s unincorporated areas. Many municipalities partner to operate the utility plants and distribution systems
Hickory, Conover, and Catawba County are part of a consortium created to manage the Regional Sludge Management Facility. Catawba County contracts its portion of the facility capacity to Claremont and Maiden.
The Catawba County EcoComplex is a partnership between Catawba County government, North Carolina Universities, businesses, and NGOs to promote, implement, and incubate green energy and sustainable technologies. The goals of the EcoComplex are to reduce the county’s landfill operating costs, waste volume, and waste processing as well as to convert waste into productive resources. Catawba County Public Health partners with Catawba Pediatrics Associates to provide health care to all children, regardless of their ability to pay.
Catawba County partners with Hickory, Newton, Conover, and Claremont municipalities to provide a Community Alert System to supplement information individuals receive from the media and local officials during large-scale emergencies. The system is able to send email and text message alerts to registered citizens.
The Special Tactics and Response (STAR) Team is a collaboration that brings together Maiden, Newton, Conover, Long View, and Catawba County to handle dangerous situations and search efforts.
Catawba County is collaborating with Hickory, Conover, Maiden, Brookford, Catawba, Claremont, Long View, and Newton to provide consolidated permitting services for citizens.
“Catawba Communities” cable television program highlights programs and services of Claremont, Conover, Hickory, Maiden, Newton, Catawba County, Hickory Public Schools, Newton-Conover City Schools, Catawba Valley Community College, Keep Catawba County Beautiful, Catawba County Economic Development Corporation, and Greater Hickory Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
Catawba, Alexander, Burke, and Caldwell counties partnered with Hickory, Newton, and Conover to create the Greenway Public Transportation Authority, which consolidated urban-rural transit service.
Catawba County partners with Conover, Maiden, Claremont, and Hickory to deliver library services throughout the county.
