“The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.” - Chinese Proverb
How is your community preparing and taking action today to ensure future generations have resources needed to live a quality of life? The Next Big Things, released in September 2015, identified 4 Forces and 44 Trends that could potentially impact local government in the next 20 years. The top priority and number one force identified, Resources, is most closely tied to survival. Trends related to this force include: climate change, food insecurity, water shortages & access, energy grid disruption, mining and the “NORC” shift”.
Join us on May 25th as a panel of three localities will share how they are tackling the Resource force, focusing on priorities and developing steps to take action now and into the future. They will address the role local government plays, how to engage others, provide you with tips on where to start, and highlight benefits they are seeing in their communities.
Our panelists include:
- Flagstaff, AZ: Tamara Lawless, Ph.D. Sustainability Specialist
- Lethbridge, AB: Heather Gowland, Education and Community Initiatives Specialist
- Phoenix, AZ: Ginger Spencer, Assistant Public Works Director
