The Alliance for Innovation is pleased to announce our newest University Affiliate.  Virginia Tech’s Center for Public Administration and Policy and its Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management have joined the Alliance for Innovation to provide resources and educational opportunities and to share emerging practices with students and faculty.

The Center for Public Administration and Policy (CPAP) seeks to promote good governance and the advancement of capable and ethical public service by providing outstanding education, research, and outreach in the theory and practice of public administration, management, and policy.  CPAP offers both the MPA degree and the Ph.D. in Public Administration and Public Affairs. The MPA program is accredited by NASPAA (the Network of Schools of Public Policy Affairs and Administration), and it currently is ranked 17th nationally among Public Management programs by U.S. News and World Report. CPAP offers the Ph.D. on the home Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg and in Alexandria and the MPA in Alexandria, Blacksburg, and Richmond.

The Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management offers graduate level work in the area of local government management.  In partnership with the Virginia Local Government Management Association, CPAP developed this certificate program to provide the next generation of local government managers with the tools they need to advance their careers and to serve as exceptional leaders in the communities where they work. The certificate program is available through an online platform that provides local government management graduate programming to students in any community.  The program has been awarded the Stephen B. Sweeney Academic Award by the International City/County Management Association.
