The city of Bowling Green. KY (pop. 81,000) and Operation Pride held a joint press conference on Monday, July 25 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the Train Depot to introduce Stanley the Trash Can to the citizens of Bowling Green.

Stanley is a life size trash can mascot that will be traveling with us to schools, special events and festivals.  Stanley is the newest addition to the Keep it Clean Bowling Green campaign that was started in the summer of 2004 in order to raise awareness about litter in our area.  In the past year, radio commercials, press conferences, neighborhood clean-ups, and special events have been organized to help citizens understand how damaging litter is to the city.

“We’re hoping that Stanley will be able to help us communicate the importance of keeping our city clean and litter-free to school students,” said Kim Lancaster, Public Information Coordinator for the City of Bowling Green.

At the conference cookies and kool-aid reception followed to welcome Stanley to the city.
