Summary

The Town of Fryeburg, Maine is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Town Manager. Fryeburg is a four season community surrounded by lakes, wooded hills and winter recreational opportunities. Fryeburg has a population of about 3,500 and has significant seasonal increases in activity. Located on the New Hampshire border, it has the 2nd busiest border crossing in Maine. Fryeburg is a busy family-oriented community and is a great place to live, work or start a business. Fryeburg is the home of Fryeburg Academy, Fryeburg Fair and the Eastern Slope Regional Airport.

Fryeburg has a Town Manager/Select Board/Town Meeting form of government. Fryeburg is a full service community with a current municipal budget of $8 million including the county and school. There are 21 full-time municipal employees and 40 part-time and seasonal employees and 5 Selectmen.

The Board of Selectmen is seeking an individual with strong budget and financial management skills. Experience in administration, personnel management, grant preparation, solid waste and highway department operations, project management and the ability to work with neighboring communities is very important. Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills and computer technology. A positive attitude, demonstrated leadership ability, an open, visible, collaborative and team-oriented management style will be an absolute requirement. A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or similar relevant field is preferred; a Master’s degree is a plus. Experience in Town Management is preferred, but candidates with executive municipal management and finance or comparable experience are encouraged to apply. Salary is negotiable based on experience and training.
