Summary

The County is seeking a strong, hands-on leader with a solid understanding of sustainability with the ability to develop, organize and coordinate the County’s Sustainability Program in partnership with internal departments and external stakeholders.
This is professional work providing for coordination, development, leadership, and management of programs of county-wide initiatives affecting both public and private sectors of Pinellas County. An employee in this classification will be responsible for coordinating with Departments and stakeholders on developing sustainability and resiliency programs, and monitoring their effectiveness within the specific area of concentration. Duties include developing and/or assisting in the development of programs and plans related to sustainable management of County resources, writing publications including curriculums that provide guidance to County staff on sustainability initiatives, marketing strategies, grants and other revenue acquisition to support sustainability initiatives and evaluating the effectiveness of these programs. This employee oversees assigned programs and projects, supports departments in the implementation of their sustainability initiatives, develops and maintains community partnerships, facilitates and participates on advisory boards, coordinates staff and volunteers in addition to interacting with the public and other organizations. This position will also be responsible for evaluating the County’s responsiveness to a changing climate and providing guidance to departments on initiatives to be more resilient to climate change. This employee exercises a great deal of independent judgment in a variety of work situations. Work is performed under the direct the general supervision of an Assistant County Administrator, and is reviewed through performance reports, and oral and written reports.
