The Economic Development Director provides vision and leadership in planning, directing, managing, and overseeing economic development programs and projects within the County. The incumbent will be responsible in promoting the County’s economic development initiatives and achieve strategic goals.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal Economic Development Director candidate is experienced in local government or a related field with executive level experience who will be visionary and provide great leadership to the department, a creative and strategic planner, goal oriented, and experienced in managing a number of employees.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) from an accredited university or college in Economics, Business or Public Administration, Urban Planning, Finance or related field, plus six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in economic or business development or international business management, including two (2) years of executive level management experience; and experience in historic preservation and heritage tourism is preferred. Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
Must have or obtain by date of hire a valid driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso. CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member), CED (Certified Economic Developer), or other certifications in economic development are preferred.
