We’re looking for an Assistant Program Manager to provide administrative and member support to our renowned ethics program. -- If you have great writing skills, an interest in doing research, an eye for content and like being exposed to all aspects of the complexity of ethics, this newly created role is for you.

As Assistant Program Manager, you will further ICMA’s goal to assist members to build trust with the public they serve. Furthermore, you will support the team to develop innovative and thoughtful content for members on ethics topics domestically and globally.
You will participate and support in the ICMA Committee on Professional Conduct, a subcommittee of ICMA’s Executive Board, by applying knowledge of the ICMA Code of Ethics and in accordance with the ethics enforcement process as outlined in ICMA Rules of Procedure for Enforcement.

You will also provide support to the ethics training program for members. Ethics training involves working directly with a local government’s staff or in conjunction with a professional development offering such as an ICMA affiliated state association conference. Interested?

Here is the scope of what you’ll do in large:

Create fresh content on ethics for use in a variety of communication channels.
Leverage existing content and research to provide ethics advice by member career stage/position.
Update the ethics section of the website with relevant fresh content.
Co-ordinate the placement of ethics content with our content dissemination and engagement team.
Assist in the development of presentations and training materials as well as refresh existing materials with updated ethics case studies.
Coordinate with ICMA’s global program team to develop case studies that are relevant to the international community.
Assist the Ethics Advisor to monitor all case activities to ensure adherence to the Rules of Procedure for Enforcement and timely case resolution.
Research past case history for precedent by utilizing the CPC database and archives.
Prepare confidential CPC meeting agendas and related materials.
Coordinate with ICMA affiliated state associations as necessary and appropriate.

What you’ll need to be successful:

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years’ work experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Strong research capabilities.
A proactive approach to prioritizing tasks and meeting established deadlines.
Demonstrated experience in writing engaging and persuasive materials for online, e-mail, and print formats tailored to the needs and interest of each audience.
Excellent interpersonal skills and judgment are required.
Commitment to maintaining the confidential nature of ethics inquiries and the enforcement process.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment with all members of the organization.
Knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
A knowledge or interest in local government is preferred.
