Participation in the Alliance for Innovation is a unique opportunity for the entire organization to become engaged in creating, developing, implementing innovative ideas to enhance local government operations and build stronger communities.

The age we live in is defined by change, and it is imperative that city governments learn to embrace change, even create it. I firmly believe that our greatest efficiencies are realized only as we utilize the creativity of others who share an openness to change. The Alliance for Innovation provides the greatest opportunity for us to collectively influence local government in its change process.

The Alliance for Innovation brings together the best in basic and applied research with the best in governmental practice to aid in building more effective and responsive communities across the U. S. and beyond.

My personal vision is to use the relationships established by local governments to make life better for the community we serve. The Alliance for Innovation gives me the necessary skills, tools, resources and inspiration to support many of Washtenaw County’s vision.

I am excited about the many opportunities that the Alliance for Innovation brings to local governments in terms of state-of-the-art research, creative solutions and innovative practices to assist in our delivery of quality service to our citizens. The combined resources of the Innovation Groups, Arizona State University and ICMA bring together the "best of the best" as we seek new ways to work better and smarter in the future. The Alliance is truly the "answer" for many of us seeking new and innovative approaches to service delivery in an ever-changing world.

In these extraordinary and demanding times, the Alliance is a tremendous asset for me and the City of Arlington.  It combines professional knowledge and industry resources to affect change, promotes connectedness with peers, and provides problem solving capabilities.  Everyone in public service who is tackling today's challenges needs the type of support, research and ideas the Alliance provides.

I am interested in providing my organization with the tools and resources necessary to help people make good things happen in our communities. I believe The Alliance for Innovation supports us in those efforts.

To solve the problems we face in the 21st century, we must connect, share, and change. We have to reach out, belong, and co-create the practices and solutions that our communities and our globally networked world demand. The Alliance for Innovation offers local government professionals the way to do just that. I invite you to come and join us and together we can transform local government!

The Alliance has been an invaluable resource for the city of Arvada, CO. We have utilized the Alliance as our "best practices" and innovation "think-tank". Alliance seminars have been excellent for staff training. Our Alliance membership is singularly the best staff capacity building, best practices and membership money that we spend.

In a world that is ever changing, we all must learn to adapt if we are to move and succeed. And so to must our institutions and organizations. I am pround that the Innovation Groups, an organization founded on visionary thinking, was able to productively look to the future and, morphing with its new partners ICMA and Arizona State University, set the stage upon which innovation and research will be forged into a plaform of applied public managerial science and technique to better our communities.

It is a privilege to be a long time member and supporter of the Alliance for Innovation and its mission. Innovation and creativity are the lifeblood and cellular regeneration of any organization. No person or organization should ever be satisfied with status quo and the endurance of mediocrity. To live, to grow, to excel we must together find the zenith of our reach and the breadth of our grasp. It is a commitment to perpetuity.

The Alliance for Innovation provides an exciting opportunity for local governments to be leaders in preparing communities for the future. It will provide a forum for the discovery, support and dissemination of innovative practices worldwide.

The Alliance for Innovation leverages the strengths of each partner, creating the synergy necessary for the research and development, innovation, and the identification of best practices essential to local governance. The next 10-15 years will be critical as new and formidable social, economic, and environmental challenges will have a profound impact on our communities. The Alliance for Innovation is committed to identifying, anticipating, and responding to these changes by putting in place initiatives that will ensure the vitality, integrity, and success of local government and the local government management profession.

I am excited about the Alliance for Innovation. It brings together the practitioners and academicians into an organization committed to accelerating innovation into the mainstream of public policy.

The Alliance will become, for those of us who serve our communities through local government, a choice for change, for courage, for venturing into a new relationship with the future, and a place to build confidence that together we can meet the daunting challenges of leadership in the new millennium.

The strength of the Alliance partnership comes from blending the perspectives of scholars and educators with those of practitioners in public management and public policy. The Alliance represents a standing conversation between local government managers and faculty members that will hopefully raise the level of both practice and scholarly research.
