All members of the former
Innovation Groups (IG) enjoy uninterrupted benefits and services, as
their memberships are automatically carried over to the Alliance for
Innovation. Belonging to the Alliance for Innovation is an

As an Alliance member, every

to offer, including regional representation, networking
opportunities, and access to cutting edge research, informative
publications, and customized learning opportunities, among many

While belonging to the Alliance

state of the art and practice in local government. The Alliance
provides a unique forum for reflection, analysis, debate, and
sharing of the ideas and solutions we need in local government. Our
contributing members have learned that what they give has even
greater value than what they receive.
In addition to many core member
benefits, joining the Alliance today will provide you with input and
access to the applied research being developed in conjunction with
ASU; advance notice and preference in invitations to the new Big
Ideas Conference being developed; and participation in expanded
learning events with ICMA and ASU.
Membership Classifications
Membership fees are
based upon your jurisdiction’s population and range from $1,050 for
populations under 5,000 up to $7,500 for populations greater than
100,000 people.

Member Benefits
- REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE:
each member is assigned a Regional Director who is
available for on-site visits, to answer questions,
assist with inquiries, research, coordinate
Alliance-related learning events, provide referrals,
etc. and, always be available to you.
- KNOWLEDGE CENTER:
the center represents both online networking and the
Alliance knowledge repository that is accessible by your
entire staff. The center contains more than 5,000
documents available online such as, council reports,
surveys, general plans, innovative community programs,
contracts, strategic plans, resolutions, ordinances,
etc. Additionally, the center is home to twenty online
Alliance networking groups where members ask questions
and receive answers from such groups as our Management
group (1,700 subscribers), Performance Measurement
(1,300 subscribers), and Community and Economic
Development (1,100 subscribers.)
- MONTHLY NEWSLETTER:
distributed to 12,000+ local government professionals,
highlighting member profiles, feature articles, various
programs, projects and products. Also includes articles
by the private sector, elected officials and leaders in
lo- cal government (available electronic and/or hard
copy).
- WEB/KNOWLEDGE CENTER WORKSHOPS:
free on-site workshops to educate and inform management
and staff about Alliance benefits, how to use the
Alliance website and online Knowledge Center with ease.
- RESEARCH:
if members are unable to obtain the information they
want through the Knowledge Center or a nationwide
inquiry, then research staff are available to review and
follow-up with useful links, documents, examples,
referrals, etc. specific to your needs.
- JOB
BOARD:
5 FREE job listings per year. Members receive
significant savings for each job listing after the
initial 5.
- WEBCAST SERIES:
2 FREE pre-selected webcast training sessions per year.
Webcasts events represent the most pressing topics on
the minds of Alliance members and feature round-table
discussion by experts as well as your local government
peers.

- TRANSFORMING LOCAL GOVERNMENT CONFERENCE:
Alliance members receive reduced rates to national
Transforming Local Government Conference (TLG ).

to present at TLG through our case study submittal
process.
- INNOVATION AWARDS:
Alliance members are eligible to receive either the
Havlick Innovation Award featuring product level
innovation and/or the Muehlenbeck Innovation Award that

- NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES:
Whether it be Alliance Informational Forums, or
Executive Advisory Committee meetings, the Alliance

problems, solutions and successes and to get
suggestions, ideas and answers to current challenges as
well as have access to thought-provoking ideas and
practices.

- MANAGERS IN TRANSITION (MIT):
the Alliance provides support services and references
for MIT's during transition periods. MITs' are
available to provide short-term projects, studies,
analysis, etc.
Corporate
Membership Opportunities
Additionally, there are opportunities for private sector
organizations to become corporate members of the Alliance for
Innovation. The Alliance encourages companies providing established
or emerging technologies and services that have specific
applications to local governments and other public sector agencies
to apply for corporate membership.
